This page is my guide to you. It’s a great place to start learning about your body, your partner’s body, your diets, what might be causing issues and how you both can conceive a healthy baby naturally.
Debunking Some Infertility Myths
There are a lot of misconceptions about infertility. Some are wives tales that have developed into commonly accepted facts. I’ve noticed many myths over the years that conflict with recent research.
Here are a few that you may have run across in your research:
Myth 1: Women can get pregnant any day of their cycle.
We’ve grown up with the idea that if you have sex, you will get pregnant. Following that idea, we assume that having sex daily or every other day will be the surest way to get pregnant. We think that women can get pregnant any day of the month. This couldn’t be further from the truth!
In fact, a woman is only fertile one day each cycle. That’s right! We have a small, tiny window of opportunity for a sperm to meet our egg.
No wonder it can be so difficult to get pregnant. Don’t feel frustrated if you’ve been trying to conceive for a few months and haven’t been able to get pregnant.
If you’re just starting to learn about fertility and when to get pregnant, we’ve developed an excellent guide to help you. Check out our guide about Determining When Are You Most Fertile where you can learn exactly when you have that fertile window of opportunity.
Myth 2: Infertility can’t be cured
Just because you haven’t been able to conceive doesn’t mean it needs to stay that way! For many women, infertility is completely treatable.
Often women have signs of infertility that point to the actual cause. We’ve created a helpful guide that outlines several common signs of infertility. Many of these are able to be treated.
One of the most common reasons for infertility is a hormonal imbalance. A few simple trips to your primary care doctor can help you understand the underlying cause of your infertility. And before you know it, you’ll be back on track to becoming a parent!
Myth 3: My diet doesn’t affect my fertility
You’re probably aware that whatever you put in your body can affect the way it functions. Your body’s ability to be fertile is no different.
There are many ways you can help your body be in top shape to conceive. Cutting back on vices is a great way to start. Smoking, drinking and having several cups of coffee each day can greatly affect your chances of getting pregnant.
We’ve put together a guide on natural pregnancy boosting tips. It outlines several ways you can modify your diet to make sure you are healthy and ready for pregnancy.
This isn’t just about you, though. Your partner has some work to do as well! Researchers have found that men’s smoking and drinking habits can affect their sperm count. It’s important for both partners to be making healthy lifestyle choices when trying to conceive.
